7 Things Pinay Overseas Filipino Workers Experience After Leaving Saudi Arabia

OFW International

After so many years of being an overseas Filipino workers, finally uuwi ka na rin for good.

1. Change of outfit will be a big deal. Sa Saudi, nasanay kang naka-abaya palagi so wapakels kahit anong attire suot mo underneath it (as long as disente pa rin). Ngayong andito ka na sa Pinas at wala ka nang suot na abaya, magiging isang major major decision na for you what to wear every day.

2. You’ll find it hard not to use Arabic words on your conversations. Kahit anong pigil mo, hindi mo pa ring maiwasang mapa-“Inshallah” o “Yallah” (with matching tangu-tango) kapag may kakuwentuhan ka.

3. Suddenly, you get mad waiting on long lines. You have to wait like every one else.

4. Driving is a whole new experience all over again. Women are not permitted to drive in Saudi. So you’ll feel empowered having this privilege once again pagdating ng Pinas. Pede na uling mag-drive here, there and everywhere! ‘Yun nga lang, mami-miss mo din minsan ‘yung mga times that you have someone to drive you around and you don’t have to deal with traffic or bad drivers.

5. You get socially awkward around men.

6. You’ll be surprised of the sky high prices of basic commodities here in Pinas.

7. That reverse culture shock is true. Pero sa katagalan, the feelings wears off and you start to feel out of place in your own culture.
